The Banker’s Association for Foreign Trade (BAFT), a global financial services association for international transaction banking, has selected Ripple’s VP of Global Sales and Client Relations Nilesh Dusane its first BAFT Future Leaders Program.
BAFT launched a program this year to recognize people they see as future leaders in transaction banking. BAFT developed this program in response to a growing need to reinvigorate interest in transaction banking as a profession, while engaging a generation of leaders in issues affecting the entire banking industry.
Tod Burwell, the president and CEO of BAFT, described the program:
“To address a need for developing the next generation of leadership in the transaction banking industry, BAFT has partnered with its members to launch the Future Leaders Program. The individuals have been recognized as emerging leaders within their own institutions, and this program will help expand their industry knowledge and network, while contributing a fresh perspective to common industry challenges.”
Nominations were considered by the BAFT Board of Directors, which includes executives from the largest banks in the world, like HSBC, J.P. Morgan, Standard Chartered, and BBVA to name a few.
Dusane commented on his selection.
“I am honored to partner with industry leaders to educate the community on applications for distributed ledger technology, and how it could affect financial institutions. We hope to bring fresh perspective to a universal industry challenge.”
Dusane’s group, which includes 10 leaders from such institutions as PNC, Citi, ING, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will present on banking applications for distributed ledger and blockchain technology. It is noteworthy that Dusane is the only the member of the group working for a technology firm. All the other leaders in the program are from banks.
The BAFT North America Annual Conference on Bridging Growth and Innovation is taking place on May 1-4, 2016 in Scottsdale, AZ.
